Thanks for the edit hint. :) My opinion is that its all just labels. My perception of a religious person is someone who has spiritually identified with a group or established religious organization, and strives to live by the principles that they/it teaches. I think there are a few basic reasons tha...

In my observation someone who is religious is not necessarily spiritual, and visa-versa. But I do not think that the two are incompatible. I would like to think of myself as a spiritual person who is very religious. I go to "a" church and prescribe to a certain set of beliefs and moral rul...

I think that there can be a big difference between religious and spiritual. What you described to me was more spiritual than religious I think. Not that that is bad or good, just my observation.

Syphon, 1. Thanks for the Mormon view... I agree with that. 2. As to the evolution thread... you have been rude, condescending, and presumptuous to the extreme (imho). All right, I have thought about the explanation starlooker gave and I can see the logic in seeing the No God scenario as more likely. May my inability to understand be excused. Okay, Seaumusz, other than by throwing that statement of Steve's around, how do you respond to the oft-repeated assertion that it is not possible to prove a negative ? Many people have stated that, and you have made no serious response to it. Given that you are asking people to prove a negative (lo...

Re: You're in a desert

You’re in a desert walking along in the sand when all of the sudden you look down, and you see a tortoise, it’s crawling toward you. You reach down, you flip the tortoise over on its back. The tortoise lays on its back, its belly baking in the hot sun, beating its legs trying to turn itself ove...

I freely admit that I haven't moved on since the beginning of this thread. I'm sorry it is redundant. I just think that it is pointless to move on when the original point of the thread won't be addressed. I was thinking that Boothby was the one copping out... I hoped that everyone saw the same thing.

Ok, I will then take you post as an admission of defeat.

I have shown that the existence in any God is more provable/probable than the non-existence of no God. If you can't concede the point or reason against the existence of any God. I am done.

I find that lacking. That is circumstantial evidence. It may be good for Moses, he thinks he talked to God. But what does that do for me? God never revealed himself to me. Even if God did reveal himself to me and I go around saying, "God does exist. He has shown himself to me.", how does ...
