Re: The Smells in My Kitchen

The last thing I made was a toasted turkey and pesto sandwich made with homemade basil and pecan pesto, basil for which grew on my porch. (Which was accompanied by brie and crackers and a mint julep made with mint that I grew on my porch, and was all enjoyed sitting on my porch on the last comfortab...

Re: Star Wars

So, I learned yesterday that one of my wife's coworkers (mid-20s) has never seen Star Wars . That just blows my mind. If you read back a few pages you'll see my story of singing in two Star Wars: In Concert concerts in 2009. The first night, in Charleston, Anthony Daniels (he was the narrator for t...

Re: Everything but "soda" is wrong

I was on a short road trip with a college friend (now my brother in law) and we went through the drive through for dinner. I was driving, and he had me order him a combo meal. When she asked what flavor coke he wanted with it he shouted out over me, "Bunny flavored!" The lady in the drive ...

Re: Everything but "soda" is wrong

I voted tonic, but I was being silly in doing so. I only order tonic with gin.

I don't order a soda, I order a whatever it is I want. Usually that is Dr. Pepper, sometimes it is Barq's. If there is rum, then I order coke.

Re: Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A

I've been gaming WAY too much lately, and it may be one reason I haven't been on here in almost a year. Mostly just because I go through phases with forums and go sometimes and then don't go others, but also because I've been gaming a lot. In October I got Dishonored on the PS3, which I loved and pl...

You know what, I just found out that the list thing that will e-mail a list to you also does that. It says that they don't guarantee it, and I'm assuming that if you use it and aren't logged in, and delete the cookie associated with it, then you will lose it. I mistook their warning to mean that it ...

I'm thankful all the damn time that, as a patron, I am part of such a spectacular library system. Maybe I'm just a gigantic nerd but being able to make To-Read lists and then, as my reading pile dwindles, move those to holds with the click of a button, then watch their status change to either in tr...

Friday we hit 109f, breaking Columbia, SC's all time high since records began being kept 125 years ago by 3 degrees. In the early 50s and mid 90s it hit 107. Saturday it was just as hot and I was helping friends pack and move. I agreed to help them get their vehicles down to Charleston, too, which w...

Ah, that is understandably bummeresque. What's the style of music the church prefers? I've been to some where the music is pretty glitzy/showy, but my personal preference is much closer to an acoustic/folk-y instrumentation (with the occasional piece on organ). It is what we in the biz call "b...

I *think* bread machine yeast is just the same as rapid rise yeast, just relabled for people who can't figure out what to use. Rapid-rise yeast is finer, thus it dissolves quicker in liquid and starts the fermentation process faster, it also produces CO2 quicker so the bread will rise more in a shor...
